Future or Past

When you're reading a fiction book, would you choose one based on the future or the past?

I would choose a fiction book based on the future, because there are so many different ideas about how the future would turn out and it's interesting to know the different author's perspectives. Books based on the past are also interesting since there is so much historical events that a person could write about, but future based books just give the reader more suspense as to what will happen. It's easier to write about the future because there's so much more ideas and thoughts that can be expressed since no one knows what will happen in the future, as for the past, a writer needs to have a certain outcome that can match what happened in reality.
